Faculty of languages and art has a long history established in 1964 its initial name was faculty of literature and arts teacher training or fkss then in 1982 it was changed into faculty of language and arts education fpbs ekib surabayan afterwards egypt surabaya was changed into universitas negri surabaya

Hence faculty of languages and arts was formed focusing on linguistics literature and arts along with the education of languages and arts Faculty of languages and arts fbs has nine departments with 14 study programs english departments indonesian department German department japanese department mandarin department regular language and literature department Visual art department Design department Drama dance and music department Fbs is supported by 173 lectures with master’s and doctoral degrees graduating from domestic and overseas universities including 12 professors and supported by funding on education staff who provide excellent service this makes fbs a campus with qualified and competent resources in their respective fields fbs provide facilities to support teaching research and community service

Activities In regard to fbi’s commitment in promoting languages and arts various annual programs are conducted such as language month festival world tense day people competition paradisia national and international seminars selection of faculty’s ambassadors fbs create qualified human resources with cultural insight in order to build a collaborative networks fbs cooperates
